Despite the fact that the globe waits to find out what the fifth-generation iPhone looks like, TechCrunch reports an anonymous app developer has pulled information from their registration logs confirming the existence of a brand new device that’s rocking every single CDMA and GSM radios. That conclusion is based on registrations that came from specifically exactly the same device that show mobile network codes and mobile nation codes from every AT&T and Verizon. This is hardly shocking however, since the Verizon iPhone 4 already has a dual mode chipset from Qualcomm with the GSM side turned off, and we’d heard back in January that Apple was planning to go the one-size-fits-all route this time around. Who this does matter for however, could be globe travelers that will come across keeping their device connected between countries and networks much easier with a globe iPhone, whenever the new phone is revealed later this year. The bad news is still specifically exactly the same however, as this probably also means there’s no plans for speedy LTE access - pencil in a pithy explanation from Steve about why it’s not necessary here.

Report: iPhone 5 a Dual-Mode CDMA/GSM Globe Phone?

The latest iPhone 5 rumors have Apple churning out a dual-mode phone that can run on each and every CDMA and GSM networks. It’s not the first time we’ve heard such reports, but this week, TechCrunch’s Robin Wauters says he’s seen evidence that supports the old rumors.

Wauters cites app logs he has seen first hand in reporting that “a tiny number of people have recently registered for one of their applications from a single, brand new Apple device that is decidedly dual-mode.” Wauters says this device carries two sets of MNC/MCC codes. Mobile network codes (MNC) or mobile nation codes (MCC) are used to identify mobile carriers and TC reports that the device in question comes with every AT&T and Verizon MNC/MCC codes.
