Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Review

It looks as though Samsung fans may have trouble finding a Galaxy Note Edge -- the phonemaker's oddball smartphone with a curved display that wraps around the side of the front face.

We just had a chance to check out the Galaxy Note Edge, one of two new smartphones. It’s a unique device in that it has a curved display on the side that measures 160-pixels wide and provides additional content.

The Galaxy Note Edge is similar to the Galaxy Note 4 but it has a slightly smaller 5.6-inch Quad HD display instead of a 5.7-inch screen. It will launch with a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 16-megapixel camera with OIS, a 3.7-megapixel front-facing wide-angle lens for selfies and more. The real key feature here is the curved side part of the display, though, and it’s pretty neat.

The Edge screen can be used with default features such as Revolving Interaction, Ticker board, Express me, Quick Tools, Night Clock, and Immersive apps like Camera, Video, and S Note. The good news is, Samsung is opening up the APIs to developers. This means that many of your favorite apps could receive Edge screen support in a future update.

The Note Edge is slightly thinner (8.3mm vs 8.5mm) than the Note 4, but in the hands it all feels the same. It also sports the same premium metal frame and soft touch plastic back as the Galaxy Note 4.

Best Shopping Apps For Android 2014

Android shopping apps may be small, but they still pack a significant punch when it comes time to organize your grocery lists, extend the ability of existing big apps, or make the most of utilities. You might find lesser counterparts around the iTunes store that accomplish exactly the same things, but you can guarantee they'll be hand in hand with poor reading user reviews.

Some of us tend to overlook the shopping category whenever we think about innovative and helpful apps, but thankfully there are plenty of developers out there that do think of it and develop shopping android apps accordingly. So when it comes to these shopping apps, users notice iOS brings some meager choices to the table.

Amazon App Store

Among the great things about Android is that you’re NOT locked into only one app store, like you are with iOS and Windows Phone. You don’t need to root or “jail brake” your Android phone to set up another app store. It’s perfectly legitimate to do this on Android and is activated with only a simple settings change on any Android phone or tablet.

Best to buy

This is a front end to the Best to buy web site and is very useful when you’re inside a physical Best Buy store. If you’ll notice, most products possess a ticket on the shelf with a price, a little description, and a 2D QR barcode. Scan it with this app and you’ll obtain the full details of the product.

FedEx

The FedEx app is extremely useful when you’re tracking a packing you’ve either sent or expect to receive (such as one you ordered with say, the Amazon app). The screen shot right pretty much sums up what this app does. It’s short and simple… It will the things you expect and nothing fancy.

QR Droid & Barcode Scanner

Both apps “QR Droid” and “Barcode Scanner” allow you to scan those 2D barcodes you’re seeing everywhere. They usually represent a URL and it’s extremely easy to scan them in places like BestBuy on product tags in the shops or on movie posters or perhaps on web sites on your desktop computer to bunch the URL on your phone. Installing QR Droid also provides you with the ability to create your OWN QR Codes.

Google Shopper

Google continued a rampage last year, axing many apps. Google Shopper was one of these. So, this is no longer available. But see “Google Offers” below. But, here’s my review from this past year: Google Shopper integrates with “Barcode Scanner” (reviewed above). Scan any barcode which app will find multiple sources for your product. This is probably the best way to get the best price on anything.

Best iPhone Screen Protector Review 2014

This is the best iPhone screen protector since it is hard and thick. Around the pencil-hardness scale, it is 9H, which means it is the hardest material on the scale. Don't confuse this with being indestructible, though. This ultra-thin bulletproof glass is scratch resistant. However, it isn't scratch proof. If you take a knife into it or accidentally send it skidding over the concrete, it'll scratch or perhaps shatter. So it scratches. The thing is that it protects your screen from scratching. Additionally, it makes it less likely that your screen will shatter should you drop the phone.

It is relatively simple to apply this iPhone screen protector towards the phone. It uses a dry approach to apply the PET film. So long as you are slow and careful about smoothing down air bubbles along the way, you'll have a smooth finish. The adhesive isn't very tacky, however it will still hold in place.

Design

This iPhone 5 screen protector includes a silicon-based adhesive that grips the screen without leaving residue behind. The adhesive is just around the edges, underneath the colored servings of the screen protector. This helps to ensure that you won't have a bubbled screen. You can reapply the Ultimate goal if you need to, but it's unlikely that you'll. The adhesive may not be as strong should you detach the iPhone screen protector after which place it on the phone again. Also, we tested the Ultimate goal on an iPhone for about a week.

Warranty & Support

The lifetime warranty about this product is only for manufacturer defects. When the iPhone screen protector gets scratched, damaged or torn inside the first 30 days, Sir Lancelot's Armor will change it. From the time you send in the warranty claim form, you've 45 days to return a defective iPhone screen protector.

Function

The Belkin TrueClear InvisiGlass Screen Protector for iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s measures only .2mm, which makes it one of the slimmest tempered glass screen protectors available on the market. This means it’s simple to install. Just do the installation like you would any traditional screen protector. Since it’s so thin and versatile you’ll be able to carefully lift up to remove any dust that will get trapped underneath using scotch tape. Just be cautious and take your time.

It’s just so hard to turn from the incredible aluminum unibody design, the front-facing stereo speakers, the Ultrapixel camera and fun Highlight features, and it is stunning 1080p screen. LG G3

The LG G3 isn’t in the shops just yet, but information has been recently leaked about some of the handset’s features, and let’s just state that they look formidable to say the least. An octa-core processor is only the start since this phone will proceed to 64-bit architecture much like the step the iPhone 5S has already taken. Motorola Moto G Android 4.4 KitKat

Motorola has become the first smartphone maker to produce an upgrade to Android Kitkat 4.4 outside. The firm's Moto G smartphones began to receive the upgrade this morning on handsets in great .owners happen to be able to upgrade to Kitkat for many weeks. Although Motorola is owned by Google, it remains another company and as such can tell you they are the first manufacturer to upgrade its users' handsets to Kitkat. The telephone has a 4.5-inch HD display( 1280 x 720 HD) and it is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 processor with 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU. The telephone runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. The companys says the telephone will be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat at the outset of 2014. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera along with a 1.3 megapixel front camera.

Design and make

Pebble-like is a good way of describing the Moto G's design and make. It's not particularly thin or light - 11.6mm and 143g - but feels nice within the hand with its rounded soft touch rear cover. The telephone is well made, robust and seems like it should cost a lot more than it does. There's little happening with the design. Silver power and volume buttons take a seat on the side and the two ports, headphone and USB, spend time at either end of the handset.

Hardware and gratifaction

The Moto G doesn't have flagship hardware however it does have a much higher specification than you'd expect from the phone which costs this little.
You're unlikely to obtain a decent screen for under £200 however the Moto G comes with a nicely sized 4.5in display with a 720p resolution. That means a pixel density of 326ppi which, can you believe it, is the same as the iPhone 5S. This is just unheard of for a phone this cheap. Shirt is punchy and the viewing angles are wonderful.

Cameras

At 5Mp for the rear and 1.3Mp in front, cameras are mid-ranged at a budget price. Both cameras perform pretty decently, particularly when you consider what you're paying for the telephone. You can even shoot in burst, panorama and HDR modes. Video could be shot in 720p HD quality and there is an unexpected slow motion recording mode.

Software

Unfortunately, the Moto G doesn't include Android 4.4 KitKat however it will be upgrade by January 2014, based on Motorola. That's not far away and for now it's running on version 4.3 Jelly Bean that is ahead of most existing Android smartphones.

Life of the battery

Motorola touts 'all day' battery life for the Moto G which is certainly the case in our testing. The Moto G can last a day and if you are a light user then you will probably even get a day or two from the handset.Despite having a removable rear cover or being able to see the 7.7Wh battery pack, you cannot actually remove it.

Google Nexus 5 Android Smartphone Review

Google’s Nexus 5 marks a substantial advance within the frequently maligned imaging capabilities from the Nexus smartphone line. The camera’s optical image stabilization combines using its decent 8-megapixel sensor to deliver images that, whilst not class-leading, are certainly competitive. However, within our review we found that the Nexus 5’s camera performance was undermined by speed issues: your camera app was slow to begin up, exhibited frustrating shutter lag and felt pokey when focusing. Right after the phone started shipping Google said hello would address these issues, and contains delivered on its promise using the Android 4.4.1 update that’s been rolling to Nexus devices since Friday. (Another update, Android 4.2.2, has already been on the move as well, though it comes with no same sort of significant effects.

Aesthetics

The Google Nexus 5 is slightly bigger, but thinner and 9 grams lighter compared to Nexus 4. At 130 grams, the correct answer is light for a phone of the size. For that, LG has strictly gone with plastic. It's construction is solid though. Because of the matte finish, the phone seamless comfort to hold and is also resistant to fingerprints and smudges.

Specs

The Nexus 5 is run by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.3 GHz. Gaming continues to be taken care of by an Adreno 330 GPU, helped by 2 GB of RAM. Similar to its predecessor, the Nexus 5 comes with an 8 megapixel camera sensor. However, there are several improvements for better low-light photography.

Display

The Nexus 5 sports a 5-inch (4.95" more specifically) full-HD screen. It features a protective layer of Corning's Gorilla Glass 3. The IPS panel is impressively sharp and produces vibrant colours. The contrast and viewing angles are great too. However, the screen isn't bright enough in comparison with competitors. So while the display looks fantastic during night, its legibility drops drastically in sunlight. Furthermore, the screen is extremely reflective.

Kitkat

On the software front, you receive the spanking new Android 4.4. In the latest iteration, Android has got some improvements underneath the hood such as printer support and low-memory footprint. For normal users, there are some UI refinements too. To begin with, the black bars round the onscreen navigation keys and notification area happen to be replaced by a neat transparency effect. The icons look slightly larger than what you get on most Android Smartphones.

Performance

The Nexus 5's quality of sound is very good. The music player offers lots of equalisers and audio settings to experience around with. In terms of video playback, the telephone doesn't support many codecs. Additionally, it lacks subtitles support. However, it isn't an issue since you can easily obtain a good third-party player such as MXPlayer. With a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and Adreno 330 GPU inside, the Nexus 5 will a great job when it comes to gaming. From casual, to 3D first-person-shooters, the telephone runs all Android games with an ease.

Camera

Unlike most high-end phones, the Nexus 5 camera interface is basic. Since there is no dedicated shutter button, the phone offers touch-to-focus option. Long press anywhere around the viewfinder to find out more settings including megapixel count, flash toggle, and exposure.
