Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Review

It looks as though Samsung fans may have trouble finding a Galaxy Note Edge -- the phonemaker's oddball smartphone with a curved display that wraps around the side of the front face.

We just had a chance to check out the Galaxy Note Edge, one of two new smartphones. It’s a unique device in that it has a curved display on the side that measures 160-pixels wide and provides additional content.

The Galaxy Note Edge is similar to the Galaxy Note 4 but it has a slightly smaller 5.6-inch Quad HD display instead of a 5.7-inch screen. It will launch with a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 16-megapixel camera with OIS, a 3.7-megapixel front-facing wide-angle lens for selfies and more. The real key feature here is the curved side part of the display, though, and it’s pretty neat.

The Edge screen can be used with default features such as Revolving Interaction, Ticker board, Express me, Quick Tools, Night Clock, and Immersive apps like Camera, Video, and S Note. The good news is, Samsung is opening up the APIs to developers. This means that many of your favorite apps could receive Edge screen support in a future update.

The Note Edge is slightly thinner (8.3mm vs 8.5mm) than the Note 4, but in the hands it all feels the same. It also sports the same premium metal frame and soft touch plastic back as the Galaxy Note 4.
